Your Privacy

What personal information do you collect about me and when?

On the 25th May 2018, the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) came into effect. It aligns European standards in data protection with current technology standards. This is good news for all individuals who are affected by data processing and will maintain standards in relation to the security of your personal data. We have aligned our Privacy Policy in accordance with this General Data Protection Regulation and only collect the minimum amount of personal information necessary to provide our DNS/Proxy service to you; which is your name, email address and IP address. We receive information about you when you visit our website or if you contact us by email. Your name, email address and a payment transaction ID is forwarded to us by PayPal when you make a payment using their payment processing website. We receive your IP address when you use our website and applications.

How do you use my personal information?

We use your name and email address when we create your CH account automatically on our secure administration server. Having an account allows you to register your home networks to use our service and lets you extend or renew your subscription during or after it expires. We use your email address to send you a minimal number of account status notifications during the period of your subscription. From time to time we may also email you about any important changes to our service. Your personal data may be used internally for research and statistical purposes. We will not use your personal information for any other reason than that stated herein without your consent. We receive your IP address when you use our service. We use it to allow you unique access to our DNS and proxy services. Using your IP allows us to manage your account and provides us with your ISP information and geographic location. We do not share any of your personal data with any other person or 3rd party organisation.

How long do you retain my personal information?

We will store your personal information on our secure servers for as long as you remain a customer of ChannelHopper. After your subscription expires we may retain your information for up to 7 years in accordance with legal accountancy obligations.

How can I check if the personal data you have about me is correct and how do I get you to update it?

You can request what personal information we have about you by email but for security reasons your request must come from an email address that we already hold on record, we can then update as required.
